Excavator feast at the Royal Cornwall Show 2016 (Part One)

The Digger Man Blog made its annual pilgrimage to the Royal Cornwall Showground at Wadebridge last week for our latest tour of the trade stands where we found an abundance of excavators on show from the South West’s main dealerships.

Excavator feast at the Royal Cornwall Show 2016 (Part One)
This year’s tour kicked off with a visit to the Molson stand where there was a wide variety of machines from the company’s portfolio of products which includes Hyundai and Kobelco. Liskeard based Champion Groundworks had a number of different manufacturer’s machines on display around the show this year and on the Molson stand we spotted this Kobelco SK75SR model. DSC_1133 Molson’s are also approved installers of Engcon tilt-rotators and as word continues to spread about the benefits of these systems there were 3 customers machines on the stand all fitted with tilt-rotators including two Hyundai machines consisting of long term South West tilt-rotator convert Kirk Hough with his new HX220L and Courtney King with his HX140L. DSC_1137 Another recent tilt-rotator adopter is Rob Bool whose name was emblazoned on a brand new SK140SR complete with Engcon EC219. DSC_1135 Digger Man Blog reader Steve White also had a machine on the stand in the shape of a R35Z-9 zero tailswing 3.5 tonne mini excavator. While Exeter based Tool Care Hire had an R80CR-9A compact radius 8 tonne class midi excavator on display. DSC_1138 This year’s Plant & Engineering Services (PES) stand was heavily dominated by larger Volvo excavators including yet another EC220EL for ambitious and rapidly expanding business Wagner Plant Hire, who are big fans of the Volvo product and the great service they get from their Regional Sales Manager Richard Shelbourne. DSC_1141 There was also a new 25 tonne class EC250EL on display which was the first Volvo excavator to be purchased by Liskeard based Champion Groundworks. There was plenty of buzz going on around the showground as to who was likely to be the lucky recipient of this new machine when it lands on site! DSC_1170 Completing the line-up of large Volvo excavators was an example of the company’s popular EC140EL model. This machine is the 3rd Volvo excavator purchased by Helston & Exeter based MJL Group who are continuing to expand their operations right across the South West. DSC_1139 25 tonne class excavators seem to be gaining in popularity and on the M&M Plant Sales stand we discovered 2 Case CX250D’s including this one which has been purchased by Steve Hoskins Construction. Luke Harris who was working on his birthday along with the rest of the crew gave us a warm welcome during our visit to the stand as always. DSC_1148 Long standing Case customer Harold Thomas also had his latest addition on the M&M stand the 7.5 tonne Case CX75C SR which will join his fleet of machines on various water pipe related work around the South West.
