Girlfriends first time in an Excavator

Attracting more women into the construction industry is a big thing at the moment and its great to see that more are gradually becoming involved in what is still a very male dominated industry here in the UK.

Of course, in other parts of the world, it’s now quite common to see women operating machines, especially in the Nordic regions like Sweden, Norway and Finland and in Australia and Canada where they are often to be found operating some of the biggest kit going. Talking of Canada, I came across this video recently featuring Ontario based family business Ken White Construction, on Instagram as kwc2000 who have been trading since 1968. The current company president and owner David White is assisted by his son Taylor White who decided to give his longstanding girlfriend Gill some lessons on how to operate their Komatsu PC170LC hydraulic excavator, within the confines and safety of the company yard area.

Everyone has to start somewhere and as such Taylor gives a full briefing on the do’s and don’ts of running an excavator and its all documented thanks to a series of camera angles and views, a great little video which I enjoyed and I hope you do too.
