Hidromek get on the grade with new acquisition

Turkish manufacturer Hidromek today announced that it is acquiring the motor grader business from Japanese Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, together with the current production facilities in Thailand

Hidromek get on the grade with new acquisition
Hidromek, who are the largest construction machine manufacturer in Turkey, was established in Ankara in 1978 and are best known as manufacturers of Backhoe Loaders and Hydraulic Excavators, under its own brand name. Hidromek will be acquiring MHI’s world renowned motor grader business, adding another machine to Hidromek’s expanding portfolio of equipment. Motor graders are mainly used for ground preparation and road building, but also in many global markets, they are used for snow removal duties. This acquisition will enable Hidromek to own MHI’s design and production related know-how and technologies, after sales operations as well as full ownership of MHI-Pornchai Machinery Co Ltd, MHI’s production facility in Thailand, that has until now supplied MHI’s products to markets around the world. Hidromek will be capable of designing, producing, distributing and servicing of motor grader machines worldwide after this acquisition. In addition to the obvious benefits the new motor grader range will bring, this acquisition will enable Hidromek to penetrate the ever expanding Asian markets with its existing, innovative and well known backhoe loader and excavator range as well. This strategic move is in line with Hidromek’s 10 year growth plan and its quest to become a global brand in construction machine industry. Having taken over the business, Hidromek will continue operations in Thailand, keeping existing MHI-Pornchai Machinery Co Ltd. employees. Customers around the world will be supported through the Hidromek network, as well as MHI network wherever applicable. As part of the agreement that was officially signed today in Ankara, MHI will, for a given period of time, provide technical support and motor grader parts to Hidromek. MHI will also, for a specified period, offer after-sale servicing support for customers in Japan. At the end of the agreed period, Hidromek will assume the responsibilities of carrying out these activities. This acquisition will definitely serve as an important milestone in the journey towards the realization of Hidromek’s vision to become a big global player in the construction machinery manufacturing business. The Digger Man Blog expects to be seeing Hidromek liveried motor graders in the New Year.
