It’s Showtime 2016

2016 is going to be a very busy year for the plant and machinery industry and especially so on the plant and machinery show circuit, in this blog we will take a look at the most high profile shows taking place with major interest for UK visitors.

It’s Showtime 2016
The first major event to take place in 2016 is the Executive Hire Show, which takes place at its spiritual home the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. This year the show will be celebrating its 10th anniversary since its launch in 2007 and is often regarded as an unmissable event for the plant hire and small tools industry. Visitors can expect to see the first official public appearance of JCB's new 3CX Compact backhoe loader seen below. The event runs over two days 10th and 11th February, find out more by clicking on this link. http://www.executivehireshow.co.uk/index.html Following on from the EHS everyone with a serious interest in plant and machinery will be focusing their attention on what can only be described as the “greatest show on earth”. The triennial machinery fest that is Bauma takes place in Munich over 7 days from 11th - 17th April at the giant Messe Munchen exhibition centre and covers an area the size of 87 football pitches. Understandably good walking shoes are essential at this show and deep pockets as accommodation and food is not cheap for the captive audience. The show takes place on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd April at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, which is just a stone’s throw away from Edinburgh Airport, making it ideal for visitors to commute from all over the country. It’s a show where innovation and forward thinking is always very prominent with many Scot’s I’ve met up there embracing modern excavation ideas like tilt-rotators, making the area something of a “hotbed” for such systems. This is from my experience one of the friendliest events of its kind in the UK and time permitting I will be hoping to attend again this year. Find out more here. http://scotplant.com/ For those with a keen interest in tilt-rotators and mind blowing modern excavation techniques a visit to Maskinexpo in Sweden is a must. The show takes place 26th – 28th May at the “STOXA” Stockholm Outdoor Exhibition Area which is located just 10 minutes from Stockholm’s Arlanda airport. This family friendly show is a real eye opener for any UK visitors who are passionate about what they do and has inspired many of the famous UK owner/operators who frequent the social media scene and who now run Scandinavian style kit back home. Hillhead 2016 takes place at the famous venue of Hillhead Quarry in Buxton, Derbyshire from 28th – 30th June. I expect to see many thousands of visitors descending down the ramp into the quarry area to catch a first glimpse in the UK of the manufacturers new products that will have been revealed during Bauma a couple of months before. This is always an exciting event on the show calendar which always starts with the breath-taking look down into the quarry area from the viewpoint at the top of the ramp. It’s another show where good walking boots are a necessity and a good selection of attire is always best brought along as it can get very hot down there and cold depending on how the weather plays its part.
