JCB JS220LC's get to grip's with Dorset clay

Regular readers of Earthmovers Magazine may recall my visit to Dorset Based Andrews Plant to see their fleet of machines which is dominated by the JCB brand. I was delighted to see that they have recently been starring in one of the new testimonial style videos from the Staffordshire based manufacturer.

The Andrews Plant fleet today, which is in excess of 42 machines, is dominated by the famous yellow diggers. The current fleet comprises of 2 x JS360LC’s, 12 x JS220LC’s, 2 x JS130LC’s, 1 JZ140LC, 2 x 86 C-1’s and various sizes of mini excavators.  More recently a fleet of 6 JCB forward tipping site dumpers have been added to the hire fleet. DSC_0058 On the day of my visit I was shown a number of JS220LC models which the company run and seem to be the preferred size of machine for working in the clay pits. Operator Shaun Day spoke to us about his machine, “In all fairness it’s a good machine, in the past I have driven Komatsu and Case’s and to be honest I would take this JS over a PC210 any day of the week, to do trimming, grading and pipework with you won’t beat it, as it’s so good on the levers with plenty of feedback, which is especially good when working around services and the like when I am out on hire, the four cylinder JCB engine is brilliant on fuel consumption too, yeah I really like it!” DSC_0023 Checkout the video from the guys at JCB featuring interviews with operator Richard Stockley and Chris Andrews from Andrews Plant.
