JCB’s iconic 3CX stars in crime drama

This video clip from the 1980’s ITV show Dempsey and Makepeace is currently doing the rounds on the plant pages on Facebook at the moment, so I thought I would share it with the Digger Man Blog readers.

Following on from a week of featuring American kit on the blog, it will make a change to look back at this clip which features a British classic, the JCB 3CX, well two of them to be precise, that feature in an all action chase scene which sees actor Michael Brandon as Dempsey chasing a villain in another JCB machine. Lookout for a few continuity issues as the clip progresses. [youtube width="725" height="344"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu-pcoUIqek[/youtube]   The bad guy draws “first blood” in the battle by overturning Dempsey’s Turbo 4x4 model, but despite looking a bit dodgy when he first got in the machine, it would appear that he quickly got the hang of operating a backhoe loader, (well I expect his stunt double did anyway) as he uprights the floundering machine using the backhoe! The scene comes to a dramatic conclusion as Dempsey catches up with the baddie and returns the flip over favour then traps him in the cab. Fantastic stuff, they simply don’t make TV like this anymore. Enjoy!
