Komatsu’s HM460-6 Gaining Friends

At the recent Hillhead Show one of the star attractions on the McHale Komatsu stand was the new HM460-6 articulated dumptruck.

We featured these trucks on the blog back in March, when Finnish company Arctic Infra Oy acquired no less than 12 units from their regional dealer Suomen Rakennuskone Oy having been impressed by what they saw during the Bauma Trade Fair last year.

Big news at Hillhead on the McHale Komatsu stand, was that Shropshire based earthmoving, quarrying and plant hire business Stokey Plant have bought 6 of these new trucks, the first ever Komatsu ADT’s to be added to their fleet.

As previously reported previously, these trucks feature a new Stage V emissions compliant Komatsu diesel engine, offering a power output rating of 386kW (518hp) @1700rpm, and is said to deliver up to 22% improved fuel efficiency.

With the new improved powertrain, and frame the HM460-6 has been engineered to deliver increased payload, and superior traction across difficult terrain. The trucks body capacity heaped is 25.7 m³ and a maximum payload of 42.0 metric tonnes.

Last week Komatsu Europe posted a new walkaround video on the HM460-6, which is presented by Komatsu Product Manager Juuso Ahola, who is a Finn, and previously worked for the Finnish Komatsu dealer Suomen Rakennuskone Oy for over 9 years.
