Like a Cat that got the cream

Last week I paid a visit to see owner/operator Rob Williams who was keen to show us his latest addition a Cat 312D hydraulic excavator.

Since stepping out on his own Rob Williams, who trades as Williams Plant, has been quietly expanding his business. Having initially started out with a Kobelco  8 tonner, Rob later added a Volvo EC15 1.5 tonne class mini excavator. Now with an expanding order book ahead of him he has taken the plunge and purchased his first 13 tonne class machine, in the form of a quality used Caterpillar 312D model which has been supplied by Finning UK. I think it’s fair to say that Rob was grinning like a Cheshire Cat, when I arrived for a photo shoot on site in Parkstone, Poole, last week and he was clearly delighted with his choice of machine having always been a Caterpillar fan. Many long term blog readers may recall how Rob’s wife Fiona arranged a trip to Caterpillar’s Malaga facility for a surprise birthday treat a few years ago, which we covered on the old blog host, so it came as no surprise to me to hear the news that Rob had opted for a Caterpillar machine. I will be reporting on Rob and his latest addition in more detail in a future edition of Earthmovers Magazine, so one to look out for over the coming months.
