New Generation Volvo Wheelies Look the Business!

Volvo Construction Equipment wheeled excavators continue to make friends in the industry, with both owners and operators.

We saw some of these new wheeled excavators in the opening demonstration at the recent Volvo Days event in Eskilstuna, Sweden, but with the tight time constraints I wasn’t able to get up close and personal with any of them.

As such I turned to my trusted source for all things machinery related, You Tube, where I came across the promotional video for the New Generation Volvo EWR150 and EWR170 wheeled excavators.

Ideal for working on tight congested urban job sites, or on single lane closure road work applications, these new Next Generation compact radius wheeled excavators, can improve productivity with a 10% increase in engine power, increased reach, higher lifting capacity, and a front-end swing radius that has been reduced by over 0.5m.

Other key features on these machines include Volvo Active Control, Dig Assist, Smart View with obstacle detection, and a brand-new operator cab with an intuitive 12.8” touchscreen interface.

Volvo wheeled excavators have long been respected in the industry for their performance, visibility and comfort levels, and now for 2026, Volvo is introducing an industry-first innovation: a patented electrically folding ladder for safer cab access, together with a new four-wheel steering system that further enhances manoeuvrability and positioning in tight spaces
