Old Cat’s never die

Returning now to reader Karsten Beckmann’s old timer photos that he kindly sent into us recently with a second batch capturing some old Cat machines.

Yesterday we brought you material featuring some modern scraper and box kit in the form of the Challenger and Reynolds scraper. But today we go back in time with some ageing Cat tractors and boxes that are still putting in a good days work to this day, a real testament to the longevity of the Caterpillar product. We don’t have much detail about the kit here or the job they were working on but it looks like a couple of Cat D8H track type tractors with towing Cat 463 boxes at work for Swindon based H. Hibberd Ltd. I’m sure if I have the identification wrong one of our older sharp eyed readers will correct me! The machines look like they are being assisted by another classic Cat D5B dozer in the spread area. Look out for more old classic machines in the final batch of Karsten’s photos next week on the Digger Man Blog.
