Oldies at rest Re-Visited

Looking back through the Digger Man blog archives again recently and I came across a batch of photos sent in some years ago by Owner/Operator and contractor Luke Finney, featuring old kit at rest and some rotting away in bushes.

Oldies at rest Re-Visited
This old Cat D9G is a fine example of one of the most iconic dozers in the American giant’s history. It would be interesting to know if this machine has been saved or if it’s been sold and shipped abroad to continue a working life as ageing kit often does from our shores. 005 This ageing and cosmetically poor JCB 806B with “Powerslide” boom was still more than capable of putting in a good days work, all be it a lot slower than more modern kit. This machine is yet another piece of plant that would make for a great restoration project in the future. 044 This Hanomag 450ELC is yet another find on a farm which is where so many old excavators end up seeing out the rest of their days putting in the occasional shift for the farmer. For this age machine you can often get a lot of excavator for very little money, especially if you are prepared to nurse them along while working them. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA As British icons go they don’t come much more iconic than the Hymac 580C which was the excavator of choice for many in the UK back in the late 60’s 70’s and early 80’s. This is a nice and tidy example of the famous model which is now just a distant memory for most operators. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA This unidentified 800 series JCB hydraulic excavator is sporting a rather unusual livery instead of its JCB yellow. The machine which once again sports the Powerslide boom looks to be in good condition. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA An ageing Case 450 tracked loading shovel is being engulfed by vegetation and has probably now been scrapped since this photo was taken. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA If you spot anything when you are out and about why not send them into the Digger Man Blog.
