Ollie puts Liebherr’s rubber duck to the test

Well known owner-operator and Engcon tiltrotator stalwart Ollie Kitchin is currently test driving Liebherr’s new A 914 Compact Litronic rubber duck offering and was keen to tell the Digger Man Blog about his early experience with it.

Of course Ollie is well known for his ownership of an all singing all dancing Komatsu PW160, which has graced the pages of this blog and in Earthmovers Magazine on numerous occasions. But recently his Komatsu needed to go in for some warranty work to be done, so with that in mind Ollie figured it would make an ideal opportunity to get one of the new Liebherr ducks in for a week’s test drive, just to see how he would get on with it. To initially get the ball rolling Ollie spoke to Carl Longhorne, who is Liebherr’s Regional Sales Manager for the north of England and Ireland, just to ask what the possibility was of getting a demo machine to try out. As one can imagine with such a high profile machine owner, the response from Liebherr was very positive indeed and Ollie was quickly put at ease, with any questions he raised being answered straightaway. The machine was dropped off on site on Tuesday evening and in true Liebherr style the following morning one of the company’s demonstrator/instructors, Steve Wigley was on site at 8am to give Ollie the low down on the machine and all its features. Ollie said, “I can only describe the walk round and explanation of the machine and its computer system in the cab as the most in depth and informative I have ever been given about a new machine to try. It really is a credit to Liebherr to have someone with Steve’s sort of passion on board”. The A 914 Compact demonstrator has been doing the rounds recently and is certainly making an impact especially with the owner/operator fraternity. It’s only been with Ollie for a few days, but early reports sound very promising indeed.
