Plantworx Highlights (Day One)

Despite a wet and windy start Plantworx 2015 was declared a roaring success on day one of the show at its new venue at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome. In this blog I will look at a few highlights from the opening day.

The growing popularity of tiltrotators in the UK was evident all around the showground including on the JCB demo plot where this 8 tonne class 86 C-1 was being demonstrated sporting a Steelwrist model. Chinese excavators from Sany were being demonstrated on the TDL Equipment stand and there were no shortage of visitors requesting a test drive on a variety of models including this SY235 which competes in the 25 tonne class sector. Talking of Chinese kit LiuGong dealer Construction Plant and Machinery Sales had a number of machines from its portfolio of products on display, including the new 856H wheeled loader, penned by a British led design team, that was making its debut in the UK. Launched recently at Malaga, Caterpillar’s new 13 tonne offering specifically designed for the plant hire sector, the 313F L GC was attracting a lot of attention both on the demonstration plot and as a static display at the front of The Finning stand. Hyundai’s much anticipated new HX range of excavators were also being seen in the UK for the first time following the recent launch at Intermat in Paris, with this HX260 being put through its paces on the demo plot. On the Volvo Construction Equipment stand top female operator Aimee Pooley was invited to take to the controls of the latest Volvo EC140E LC models by regular demo operator Ben Miller. The machine was equipped with a Steelwrist tiltrotator and Scandinavian style grading beam amongst other work tools. Look out for more Plantworx highlights over the coming days here on the Digger Man Blog.
