Rare Takeuchi plough conversion spotted

My Swedish friend Alexander Lipkin shared some photos and a video of a Takeuchi TB290 that has been up for sale in an auction in Sweden and I’m delighted to share them here on the Digger Man Blog.

Rare Takeuchi plough conversion spotted

As we know, the Swedes are an ingenious bunch and will adapt and spec their machines to suit their individual requirements. This 2013 model Takeuchi TB290 probably started off in life as a standard hydraulic excavator. However, at some point it has undergone a transformation to become a plough for the laying of pipes and cables. The machine features a telescopic boom and a knuckle joint for the small dipper arm.

In true Swedish style the machine is also equipped with a grading beam to assist with the backfilling operations, which also doubles up as a carrying cradle for other attachments including a ripper tooth and a digging bucket, all clever stuff! The machine is also sporting some significant extra weights around the counterweight to counteract the heavy front-end equipment, and I notice some alterations to the shape of the dozer blade.

It’s unknown who owned this piece of kit or if it has been replaced by a new model, hopefully one of our many Swedish readers will be able to offer some feedback on the machine and the company who owned it.

Checkout the video of the machine in action.

The Digger Man Blog would like to thank Alexander for sharing this material with us.
