Retro Look for Contractor's New Cats

I have always been a big fan of custom paintwork on machines, the likes of which we often see on contractor’s machines in Europe, especially in France, Germany and Sweden.

However, I recently stumbled across some stunning livery on a couple of new Caterpillar machines on Instagram, and wanted to share them with the Digger Man Blog faithful.

Jamieson Civil & Earthmoving who are based in Wollongong, NSW, Australia, took delivery of a Caterpillar Next Gen 315 excavator, supplied by their local dealer WesTrac Cat at the end of last year, which they had painted in a smart grey and black livery.

The machine proved to be so popular that they have just received a second machine in the same paintwork, only this time a larger 325 model.

The idea behind the colour scheme is that it relates to the original Caterpillar heritage grey that the machines used to be painted before the American manufacturer adopted its famous yellow livery in 1931.

Pictured above: A restored Caterpillar Sixty from the JC.Balls collection in the colour scheme that inspired the paintwork on these new machines.

As the team at Jamieson described it, “A little bit of old school mixed with new school cool” a nice summary and a cracking look indeed.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the guys and girls at Jamieson Civil & Earthmoving for the photos, we did try to contact them for some additional info, but I never heard back.
