Stein Expo Rocks!
While I am out in Finland this week, over in Germany heavy machinery customers, operators and enthusiasts alike will be gathering in Homberg/Nieder-Ofeiden, for the latest edition of Stein Expo which opens its doors today, Wednesday 2nd September and runs until Saturday 5th September.
The show is often referred to as the Hillhead of Germany, Stein Expo is hosted in what is Europe’s largest basalt quarry, which is operated by Mitteldeutsche Hartstein-Industrie AG. This will be the 12th year that the show has been hosted at this venue, which has proven to be very popular over the years.

Much like Hillhead, the show is largely aimed at the quarrying and mining sectors, in addition to mineral processing equipment such as crushers, screeners and washing plants, plus the technology to support this machinery.
However, such is the nature of these shows there is likely to be a good presence from manufacturers and dealers who sell smaller equipment, such as mini excavators, dumpers, backhoe loaders and material handling equipment.
This impressive venue covers over 180,000 m2 of floor space, and they anticipate over 60,000 visitors, who will be able to see somewhere in the region of 300 exhibitors and 400 different brands of equipment.

It’s one show that has always evaded me, and that will be the case again this time around, but maybe I will get to it next time.
Hopefully our good German friend Dirk Bömer will be attending, and might be kind enough to share some material for a post show report here on the Digger Man Blog in due course.
Enjoy the promotional video below, and if you are attending, have a fantastic show!
