The “Beast of Bauma” in action

The “Beast of Bauma” in action
Looking back at one of the biggest highlights of 2016 with this post on David Wylies up close and personal experience with the Komatsu PC7000 at Bauma. Regular readers of Earthmovers will have no doubt read David Wylies excellent article “In the belly of the beast” featuring the Komatsu PC7000-6 which appeared at Bauma earlier this year, well now as promised David has sent in some exclusive video footage to share with the Digger Man Blog readers. David had the privilege to visit what was the largest hydraulic excavator ever to have been displayed at Bauma and was given a close up tour of Komatsu’s new 700 tonne PC7000-6 super shovel. DSC_0285 It’s fair to say that Komatsu Mining Germany's (KMG) new PC7000-6 super shovel was a showstopper and one of the stars at this year’s Bauma 2016 exhibition, with what seemed like hundreds of thousands of visitors stopping to take photos of it, and with some taking the opportunity to stand in the massive 36 cu.m bucket for a super selfie with this monster mining shovel. David representing Earthmovers took up the invitation from KMG to get into the belly of the beast with a full tour of the machine and talked to KMG staff  - from the Dusseldorf based factory - about the key aspects that drove the new design -  in order to improve safety, ease of maintenance and productivity. And we also had privileged access to take some video footage from inside the cab during one of the regular displays that was performed throughout the seven day event.
