Tiger Wheeled Dozer caught on camera

Tiger wheeled dozers were rarely seen in the UK but sold in steady numbers around the globe back in the late 80’s and 90’s. In this post we get a rare chance to take a look at one.

Tiger wheeled dozers were designed around Caterpillar wheeled loaders with the design and technology coming from a British machinery entrepreneur who was based in Australia where there was a strong demand for highly mobile machines with the dozing capacity of large conventional tracked dozers. In this video from PA Mining the guys have discovered a 690B model from 1989 which it must be said is in exceptional condition for its age.

As the guy mentions at the end of the clip the machine was upgraded to the 690D model in 1993 which went on to become the best-selling Tiger dozer of all time. I actually own a brochure of that machine in the Digger Man Blog archives, a page of which I have scanned in for this post.

With Caterpillar eventually acquiring the property rights to the Tiger dozer concept in 1997, future wheeled dozers were just marketed under the Cat brand.
