Top 5 Things NOT to do in an Excavator

I was sent this video by one of our regular readers who is always keen to point out the rights and wrongs of operating machines from his point of view, so I’m happy to share it here on the Digger Man Blog.

It’s probably fair comment to say that our friend Kenneth Hatcher likes to do things by the rule book, and with over 30 years of machine operating experience under his belt who are we to argue. One of his particular bugbears is operators digging over the track motors, which as we all know technically is not recommended, however when you have some aggressive foreman shouting at you to get the job done, you don’t always have the time to position the machine correctly as per the aforementioned rule book!

For many it will be like teaching your granny to suck eggs, but for youngsters coming through there are valuable basic tips to be learnt.
