Total excavator fabrication

It’s a warm welcome to 2016 here on the Digger Man Blog and I hope you are all refreshed and raring to go again after the long Christmas shutdown. I thought I would open this year’s series of blogs with a video that was doing the rounds on social media in the run up to the festivities from our friends at Liebherr.

It’s always a great experience to visit a major excavator manufacturing facility, where you can witness first hand, steel sheet going in at one end, see it being cut, shaped, formed and welded until it becomes the finished product rolling off the production line under its own power. It’s truly breath-taking to see these amazing machines come to life before your eyes. This video focuses on the Liebherr-France SAS facility in Colmar, France. The factory is off major historical importance to the German based Liebherr Group having had a presence in the area since 1961, the year of this bloggers birth! I have visited quite a few of these types of factories around the world now, but I am yet to visit Colmar, which is definitely on the “to do” list for the future. But for now I will sit back and enjoy the experience with this excellent video from Liebherr as it takes us on a journey through the factory where machines ranging from 18 to 100 tonnes are manufactured on a daily basis.
