Volvo goes large at Bauma

Another company who opted to “Go Large” at Bauma was Volvo Construction Equipment, in this post we will take a look at some of the Swedish company’s big headliners.

Volvo goes large at Bauma
Volvo unveiled its all new but long rumoured A60H articulated hauler which has a load capacity of 55 tonnes. The machine builds on a long legacy of articulated hauler design and manufacturing which has seen the company become a world leader in the muckshifters preferred tool of choice these days. DSC_0164 Marking the 50th anniversary of Volvo’s development of the articulated hauler concept, the new machine was joined in the hall by one of the early DR631 models which date from 1966. These early models were extremely popular and were affectionately known as “Gravel Charlies”. DSC_0163 Also going large were two new excavator models including the EC750E model. This 75 tonne class excavator is powered by Volvo’s Tier 4 Final/Stage IV compliant D16 engine offering 374kw (502hp) and according to Volvo offers advanced fuel efficiency technology, ensuring an extremely responsive operation for maximum productivity and profitability. DSC_0160 More big news came in the shape of the new EC950E a 95/100 tonne class hydraulic excavator who’s arrival has been anticipated for months on various social media machinery channels. DSC_0308 This machine is a largest excavator ever produced by Volvo but at this stage it is only being produced for less regulated regions outside of Europe, it was certainly an impressive looking piece of kit. This photo shows the size and scale of this new machine with an ensemble of adoring machinery fans looking on! DSC_0172 Another Gravel Charlie was also used in the demonstration event which had that all familiar engine noise as it grumbled along doing what it does best! DSC_0347 Judging by what I saw on the stands and in the outdoor arena there are even more exciting times ahead for Volvo and their loyal band of customers and operators. Check out the demonstration plot highlights in this video courtesy of Baunetswerk 1000.
