Volvo to launch new midi wheeled excavator

All the major manufacturers appear to be gearing up for the product launch bonanza that will take place at the Bauma Trade Fair in Munich next April, amongst a raft of new products expected to be officially launched by Volvo is the new EW60E wheeled excavator.

Following on from the recent preview photos of the new Volvo EWR150E, which is a new 15 tonne weight class reduced tailswing offering. We are now seeing previews of a smaller compact “rubber duck” model the EW60E which weighs in at 5.6 tonnes and a tracked variant the EC60E. The new wheeled machines will be built in Korea where the Samsung based EW55 and EW55B models were produced. The new machines are, unlike the two predecessors, CE marked and aimed at the European market where wheeled excavators are very popular. This wheeled E Series machine will join the existing models in the Volvo line up which includes the EW160E and EW180E machines. I did have a promotional video featuring the new EW60E set up for this blog but it appears to have been taken down, so for now here is a video featuring the bigger brothers in the range the EW160E and EW180E models.
