Volvo’s ECR25D fits the bill for Swedish contractor

Our friend and regular contributor the Swedish Contractor Robert Carlsson, has sent in some photos of his latest machine, a Volvo ECR25D compact radius mini excavator, which it will come as no surprise to hear is fitted with a tilt-rotator.

Volvo’s ECR25D fits the bill for Swedish contractor
Robert’s new machine has come equipped with an SMP quick hitch and an Engcon EC02 tilt-rotator and features the highly regarded SVAB controls system with hand and wrist supports on the levers. Quick release drip free hydraulic couplings make for fast and easy removal of the tilt-rotator if required. The machine features lighting from Volvo all round and an additional 18w LED light under the boom end. 13112509_1029375527127711_2076800134_o 13161519_1034483823283548_1376968745_o The machine has been supplied with a long dipper and three digging buckets, in addition to these buckets some smaller ones from Roberts EC45 can be used too as well as a grapple and ripper tooth from the older machine. 13199216_1034483633283567_1641043542_o 13072102_1029377177127546_577915383_o Robert was keen to tell us about his latest acquisition, “The ECR25D is a really nice digger with very smooth hydraulics. I would say it’s not really a heavy lift champion and not the most stable either, but that’s the compromise you get if you want a compact radius machine that can be transported behind a truck on a trailer”. 13078387_1029375540461043_1341209098_o 13129033_1034483806616883_493923536_o Robert continued, “The machine is very, very quiet both inside and outside the cabin. Talking of the cabin it is actually surprisingly large for such a small digger and it’s nice to have plenty of space inside”. 13072180_1029375543794376_429584997_o “As I mentioned earlier the hydraulics are nice, harmonic and smooth even at low engine revs. About ¼ throttle is definitely enough for lighter tasks such as grading and fine positioning of loads”. 13113143_1029375813794349_118142574_o The machine is fitted with servo control pedals for the tracking movements, which Robert describes as being ideal for offering smooth and positive control when travelling the machine. The machine has recently passed the 100 hour mark and so far is ticking all the right boxes for Robert. Find out more about Volvo's ECR25D in this promotional video from the company.
