Westcountry hedgerow heroes

Digger Man Blog reader Matt Power gets around in his job as a tipper driver, he recently discovered some old plant relics rusting away in peace and has sent in some shots for us to enjoy.

Matt is a well-known truck driver in the Westcountry and is currently running a Scania 8 wheeler wagon for Totnes based Dart Commercials. Recently Matt was on a job delivering lime to a farm just outside Yeoford near Crediton where he came across these old machines, which were partially overgrown by bushes and trees. In this first shot we see the remains of what looks like a very early JCB 3 or 3C backhoe loader minus its cab and backhoe. In the same area is this Track Marshall 70 crawler tractor with rear mounted PTO arrangement. Lying in one corner of the field partially overgrown was another machine from the JCB stable, in the form of an 806 or 807 hydraulic excavator model. You certainly got a lot of metal for your money back in the days when they were producing this range. And finally in this batch a slightly more modern machine which is still more than capable of putting in a good days work pulling the plough. This early 1980’s Fiat 1355C crawler tractor is still used on the farm on a regular basis. We thank Matt for sharing these photos with us here on the Digger Man Blog.
