XCMG’s Big Lean, Green, Electric Motor Grader

Chinese manufacturers continue to push harder into the electric vehicle sector, not just with compact machines, but with large mining sized machines, such as XCMG’s GR350EP motor grader.

The mining industry has long had an association with electric powered machines, when you look back historically, especially with large walking draglines, large dumptrucks and cable & hydraulic operated face shovels, so electric is really nothing new for the sector, however, a large electric motor grader is, something pretty new to the sector.  

Officially launched back in 2024 the XCMG GR350EP electric powered mining grader is said to be revolutionizing heavy-duty operations with its 528.6kWh capacity lithium iron phosphate battery, which is capable of delivering 6–8 hours of continuous performance.

Largely designed for open-pit haul road maintenance and construction, the machine features what they describe as dual-gun super-fast charging capability, highly robust structural strength, and an equally powerful performance.

With an operating weight of 38000kg, the GR350EP electric drive product, is the largest in XCMG's 3 model electric powered motor grader range, and represents the fusion of advanced technologies, with hydraulic power driven from a dedicated hydraulic motor and a combination of piston and gear pumps in series.

This eco-friendly and ‘green’ mining motor grader solution could just tick all the boxes for mining industries around the world looking to do their bit for the planet and ultimately save money in the long-term.
