Another rare old Hymac uncovered

Information on this old machine is very sketchy to say the least, but I suspect that it is located somewhere in Sweden a country that was a good market for British built Hymac products back in the mid 1960’s early 70’s. This example has clearly had a different cab grafted onto it at some point which looks similar to a Swedish built Bofors excavator cab set up. The engine bonnet appears to have rotten away and a temporary tractor bonnet has been placed on top. The 1080 was produced from 1965 to 1969 during which time 102 examples were manufactured. In the video the machine is being put through its paces and you can hear the roar of what is likely to be a Ford engine working hard. It does make you realise just how slow these old girls were, but back in the day these were cutting edge excavator technology!
This photo from the excellent Swedish forum Maskinisten.net shows another surviving Hymac 1080 in a more original state. It will be interesting to see what additional information our Swedish friends can come up with about this machine and what our English Hymac experts like Jeremy Rowland have to say about the machine.
