Barton Civils adds Volvo 8 tonners to its fleet

Opting for Volvo was a fairly straight forward decision for Barton Civils Managing Director Barry Page. “My personal preference has always been for the Volvo brand ever since I first hired then subsequently purchased a Volvo EC140 under the Premier Groundworks banner. The machine had an impressive build quality and robustness and performed very well,” he says. “Similarly The Bennie Group has a long tradition of running and operating Volvo Equipment so the decision to continue with the product made total sense.” Now under the relatively newly re-named Barton Civils, the company has recently taken delivery of two ECR88D reduced swing compact excavators along with an ECR25D zero swing excavators and an EC27C compact excavator from SM Plant Ltd. These latest machines join a mix of other Volvo compact equipment along with Volvo fourteen tonne EC140 tracked excavators and an EW140 wheeled excavator – in all totalling eleven machines. “Apart from the quality of the Volvo product we have an excellent relationship with the local mobile engineer and the after-market support we receive is second to none,” continues Mr Page. All the machines are covered by a Volvo blue service agreement meaning the machines are regularly maintained by qualified Volvo technicians using genuine parts. “Again, buying into the service agreement programme means that besides having the peace of mind that the machines will be well maintained we can also leverage the benefits of Volvo’s integrated management system and accreditations when it comes to safe working practices and the safe disposal of waste oils, filters and other consumables,” says Mr Page. All the equipment is deployed on Barton Civils civil engineering projects which in the main concentrate on public sector works such as schools, colleges, public buildings providing a wide range of services from groundworks, utilities infrastructures, reinforced concrete construction, pathways, highways and car park construction concentrated within a 70 mile geographical radius from its headquarters near Kettering. Barton Civils list of Blue Chip construction companies they contract to include Carillion, Willmott Dixon, SDC, Galliford Try and Interserve to name but a few. Barton Civils is strategically positioned just off the busy A14 close to Kettering and works in conjunction with Barton Plant Ltd as part of the Bennie family of companies. SM Plant Ltd is the dealer for Volvo utility equipment covering the whole of the Midlands, Berkshire and Oxfordshire and is headquartered in Rugby, Warwickshire.
