Battery minis Made in the UK
JCB has announced that its 19C-1E battery-powered mini-excavator has gone into full production at its Cheadle factory in Staffordshire. The first 50 machines are already with customers, while orders are pouring in from Europe and America.
JCB reports that, with the right equipment, these machines can be fully charged in under two hours, enough for a typical full day’s shift for a mini-excavator. They estimate that, over the first five years of their working life, charging costs will be half of the equivalent cost of red diesel. Servicing costs are also expected to be up to 70% lower than a diesel-powered mini of the same size.
