Bell Extends German Factory

South African-based Bell reports that work is well underway to significantly increase the production capacity of the European articulated dump truck factory at Eisenach-Kindel in Germany. Scheduled for completion in mid-2019, this extension will add two new production halls with a combined area of 12,000 square metres.

The factory was opened in 2003 as the firm’s first production facility outside of South Africa. The original 6000sq.m assembly plant was designed to produce a maximum of 20 ADTs per week on a three-shift basis. The introduction of Bell’s E-Series trucks in 2013 led to an increase in demand and a need to raise production and shorten delivery times. The plan for the new factory is to increase its component production capacity, particularly the fabrication of skips for the firm’s range of 20- to 50-tonne capacity haulers.
