Big Cat Loads Trucks in Two Passes

In November 2018 Greek mining business Sotiriadis Brothers Mining purchased a Caterpillar 6015B hydraulic excavator for its open cast coal mining work in Kozani, Greece. The machine which has an operating weight of 140.0 tonnes was supplied by Eltrak the main Greek dealer for Caterpillar based in Athens.

In the following video from the guys at Mega Machines Channel we see the big Cat being kept busy loading eight-wheeler road going trucks. It all looks a bit of a mismatch to be honest, as it only takes two passes from the 813hp Cat’s 16.1 tonne bucket capacity to load the trucks with the excess spilling over the sides!

The machine appears to be digging overburden to get down to the rich seams of coal below and is definitely being kept busy with an endless stream of trucks waiting to be loaded, enjoy the video!
