Cat upgrades Small Wheel Loaders

Caterpillar has launched design enhancements for its Small Wheel Loader (SWL) range: the Cat 926M, 930M and 938M. Inspired by features of large wheel loaders, the upgrades are said to improve attachment visibility, operator comfort and machine performance.

The SWL line’s new Fusion Quick Coupler comprises a single-piece cast coupler frame with relocated actuation cylinders. Caterpillar reckons this arrangement increases attachment visibility by up to 85% without affecting performance. Meanwhile, a new cast torque tube design for the new Cat 930M and 938M models improves attachment visibility when it’s in the raised position. The new standard lift arms offer 100% more fork tip/heel visibility and 50% more bucket edge visibility to improve operating efficiency. Updated hose routing close to the side of the lift arms help to improve visibility when equipped with the third function auxiliary lines grouping.

The new Cat 930M is powered by the Cat C7.1 engine and now meets EU Stage V emissions standards, along with US EPA Tier 4 Final and Japan 2014 standards. The new 930M also delivers a 5% boost in gross horsepower, 5% increase in breakout force and a 5% higher full-turn tip load when compared to the previous 930M. With the new updates and refinements, the new 930M with Aggregate Handler package now aligns in a higher performance class. This offers customers lower end-to-end costs and reduced owning/operating costs compared to running a larger wheel loader.

Inside the new SWLs, Caterpillar has upgraded the seat with more breathable fabric upholstery and integrated, high-visibility orange seat belts. The fully adjustable Standard Seat also features mechanical suspension, a mid backrest, headrest and armrests. If that’s not enough, you can upgrade to the fabric Deluxe Seat with mechanical lumbar support, or the range-topping Premium Seat with heating and cooling, leather/fabric upholstery, air suspension, a high backrest, air lumbar support and cushion tilt.

Caterpillar has also upgraded its SWLs’ lighting options with integrated LED indicators and new high-performance LED front roading lights that improve light coverage in dipped and main beam modes. A new auxiliary lighting package now includes a light inside the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) fill tank compartment to improve visibility in low-light conditions. More information on enhancements to the Cat SWL line can be found by visiting your local Cat dealer or www.cat.com.
