Caterpillar’s “Jenga” themed challenge stacks up the hits

In the video below, five Cat equipment operators, who have a combined experience of 121 years, work with a Cat 320E and Cat 349E Hydraulic Excavators, a Cat TH514C Telehandler, a Cat 277D Skid Steer loader and a Cat M316D Wheel Excavator to carefully remove and reposition wooden blocks each weighing over 270 kilos. [youtube width="725" height="344"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWc8dUl7Xfo[/youtube] Faced with a number of thought-provoking scenarios, the challenge to use each machine’s strength and agility in the challenge took hours of practice, skill, teamwork and a lot of ‘Stacking’ as routines and mistakes were worked out. Commenting on the ‘Stack’ challenge which is just one of a series of ‘Built For It’ Caterpillar machine tests, Jeremy Nugent, General Manager Sales & Marketing at Finning, said: “When I first saw the challenge video I was amazed at the skill of the operators and how they worked with the machines. Everyone has played a similar game on a much smaller scale and knows how difficult it is, ultimately we all want to see them ‘Stack’ it. You can’t help but admire the way the operators worked together and really tested both their skills and the capabilities of the Caterpillar equipment.” “It is great to be able to show Cat equipment working together in a fun application and I am sure everyone who sees the video will secretly want to have a go themselves. We may even put together a ‘Stack’ equipment package at Finning so that customers can try it for themselves and for those that want to up their operating skills we already have our EcoDrive™ training programme, to assist.
