Charity Canoe Challenge for Construction Duo

Georgie and her father, John, who owns Dun Mill Construction in Cirencester, are already busy practising for the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Marathon in April, to raise funds for the mental health charity, Mind.

Georgie works in the office at Dun Mill Construction Ltd running all the day to day paperwork, accounts, plant, in addition to manning the phones, so she’s a pretty busy young lady!

But much of Georgie and her father’s spare time is taken up at the moment as they put in the hours on the river training for the Westminster Canoe race which takes place on the Easter weekend in April 2021.

This marathon event will see the dynamic duo paddling their K2 racing kayak for 125 miles and they hope to complete the challenge in 24 hours straight. Talking about the event Georgie said, “Our aim is to raise as much money and awareness for Mind, a charity which is very close to our hearts.

We are currently training 3 times a week on the water and are paddling 18 miles at the weekends. We have reached out to Dun Mill’s suppliers to attract any potential sponsors and have their logo stickers fitted to the kayak. We have already received a lot of interest, which is great, but we would love to attract more”.

Summarising Georgie said, “We want all donations/sponsors to be for the right reason - to support Mind. However big or small, every little bit helps”.
