Compact Volvo mini joins the fleet

This time the company has opted for the 1.8 tonne Volvo EC18C which features two speed tracking and hydraulically adjustable undercarriage. “I needed a slightly smaller compact excavator to carry out a lot of the typical projects we are currently undertaking,” explains proprietor Scott Wallace. “Having had a good experience already with the EC27C we purchased two years ago together with the reliability of the BL71 and the fourteen tonne excavator, plus the excellent support and back-up service we get from the Stirling support centre, prompted my decision to choose another Volvo.” The new Volvo EC18C is one of four machines ranging between 1.5 and 2.0 tonnes and is powered by a 12.3 Kw (16.8hp) engine. It features automatic two speed travel and extendable undercarriage as standard. All the hydraulic hoses for the digging equipment are routed through the boom and cylinders are top mounted to minimize on site damage. The machine supplied to Wallace Roofing and Building Contractors features a full cab – a canopy version is also available. The 1.8 tonne compact excavator also benefits from load-sensing hydraulic system for fast cycle times, even when carrying out multiple functions. Maximum dig depth is a generous 2.3 metres. A single piece engine hood provides unobstructed access to all the engine components whilst the instrument panel provides at-a-glance monitoring of all key functions. The cab’s easy to clean flat floor panel lifts for access to hydraulics and main control valve. Wallace Roofing and Building Contractors specialise in bespoke house renovation and new build projects utilising traditional materials for local Scottish estates and for private commissions recommended by estate agencies. “We pride ourselves on offering a quality service for a one stop shop both for the larger estates in the Fife and Tayside area as well as private purchasers requiring a renovation and conversion service on local property,” comments Scott Wallace.
