JCB always do us proud at Conexpo flying the flag for the UK construction machinery manufacturing sector and this time around is no different. The company is showing a wide raft of new products including the Hydradig, Teleskid telescopic skid steer loaders and its new range of access platforms, in addition to its world famous dancing diggers routine! Kenneth also got a shot of JCB’s military high speed HMEE excavator which has been hugely popular with the American army who placed a $206 million order for them in 2005. Hundreds of these machines which can travel at up to 60mph were delivered in what was the largest single deal in JCB’s history. Talking of backhoe loaders which are still a popular choice of machine in America, Case Construction Equipment was displaying the new 580N in its North American centre mount guise. Also displaying backhoe loaders for the US market was Turkish manufacturer Hidromek who had a centre mount version of its HMK 102B Alpha model. A Hyundai HX380L hydraulic excavator was doing the business on what looks like the MB Crusher demonstration plot under a backdrop of blue sky and sunshine. The machine is sat on a pile of boulders that would look great on the movie set of the Flintstones! Well you never know in Vegas! The Chinese are out in force at Conexpo and once again those crazy guys from Sany are putting on a stunt show for the crowds. The balancing act with the SY75C is becoming a popular feature in their routine as we see in this shot. Fellow Chinese manufacturer Sunward are displaying the new SWE 25 UF zero tail swing mini excavator which competes in the 2.5 tonne class. We have not heard much from the UK dealer for a while but it would be good to get a hand’s on experience in this new model if they are reading this. How about this then! The Kobelco SK210LC-10 looks to have been “wrapped” with some very stylish American patriotic machinery themed artwork. American giant Caterpillar always put on a show in their “backyard” and among the vast array of kit on show was the new M317F wheeled excavator complete with the increasingly popular TAB boom arrangement. If all goes to plan we will be getting hands on with this machine in Malaga later this year! Also on show on the Caterpillar stand what is probably the world’s best loved dozer in its latest variant the D6NLGP. Komatsu are displaying a wide variety from their portfolio of products including this D51 PXi dozer which features machine control. For those that feel the need to show off their skills, there are also a number of challenge competitions going on, including this one on the Link Belt stand where visitors are invited to pluck basket balls off a cone and drop them in a bucket using a 210 X4 model, the equivalent to a Case CX210D in the UK market. Apparently Kenneth had a go on this and managed to get all his basket balls in the bucket. Finally a shot of the man himself and by the look of it he has clearly had his six Weetabix for his breakfast, or maybe not, after all Vegas is a bit of a fantasy world! We thank Kenneth for taking the time to share these photos with us here on the Digger Man Blog.
