Xwatch Safety Solutions and Leica Geosystems (part of Hexagon) recently concluded their joint Safety Week in Melbourne, Australia – a successful training and customer demonstration event designed to showcase the latest safety technology in the heavy construction industry.

The event, hosted by Nick Leith, National Manager Machine Control at C.R. Kennedy Pty Ltd, attracted an array of construction industry professionals to Melbourne, Australia, all interested in learning about ground-breaking technology that can help prevent collisions between machinery, people, and objects in heavy construction environments. Leith said, “The main goal for the training was to demonstrate the Xwatch XW5 combined with Leica MC1 Excavator system, which provides height, slew and rated capacity, integrated with avoidance zones above and below ground to ensure enhanced safety.”

Dan Leaney, Sales and Operations Director, Xwatch Safety Solutions, emphasised the firm's global safety commitment and the thriving partnership with Leica Geosystems. "Our collaboration with Leica Geosystems is testament to our shared dedication to fostering safer construction environments worldwide. Together, we're advancing safety technology that helps protect lives and improve productivity on construction sites," said Leaney.

Leaney further expressed his gratitude to the C.R. Kennedy team, stating, "I want to extend a big thanks to Nick and the entire C.R. Kennedy team for their outstanding hospitality and for making this event a success."

One of the highlights of the event was the demonstration of the Doosan DX225 Excavator, equipped with full 3D GPS and Xwatch safety solutions, courtesy of Delecca's Plant Hire in Bendigo. Delecca's has the distinction of being the first hire company in Australia to offer this advanced safety solution for hire. Brad Mullins, Product Manager iCON Compaction & iCON PA solutions at Leica, expressed his gratitude for the successful week. "Thank you to everyone involved. It was a great week, and really awesome to meet the team. Until next time, keep the flag flying high," he stated.

Tague O'Callaghan, National Machine Control Manager, Bitu-mill at BildGroup also expressed his appreciation for the initiative. "Great work, Nick. It's good to see these types of solutions coming on board. Thanks for your time, Brad and Dan, in answering all my questions," O'Callaghan said.

Leith, concluding on the event said, "We were honoured to introduce this pioneering technology to our customers. A big thank you to Jason Delecca from Delecca's Plant Hire and to everyone who attended the event. Together, we're making construction sites safer and more efficient."
