Digger comes to a sticky end

A Kubota excavator came to a wet and sticky end last week, after its operator ventured into the River Stour at Shotley Gate in Suffolk, reportedly to wash mud from its tracks before getting stuck.

The bright orange KX080 had been working on the restoration of Shotley Pier, and according to one local newspaper its rescue required the muscle of three large vehicles including a mobile crane, but not before it was temporarily submerged by the rising tide.

Once the water had subsided, the Kubota was dragged to the shoreline over the course of several hours. Thankfully the operator was unharmed, but the digger is an insurance write-off.
