Cardiff Demolition has recently invested in a LiuGong 928E hydraulic excavator as part of its fleet renewal programme. The 928E which in its demolition spec tips the scales at 27.5 tonnes, takes its power from the well proven 6 cylinder Cummins QSB6.7 engine, which is Tier 4/Stage IV emissions compliant and offers a power output rating of 129kw (175hp) @2,000rpm. dsc_3497 The assembled kit on site has been taking down a long standing eyesore in the city called Marland House and the Wood Street NCP Car Park both of which are relics of the 1960’s and something of blight in the City. Taking down much of structure was a hired in high reach Doosan DX420LC from Northbank Demolition Ltd. dsc_3453 Also at work on the site was Cardiff Demolition’s 40 tonne class Volvo EC380EL which is full demo spec and was working a pulveriser attachment. dsc_3483 The company had one of its Komatsu PC210LC-8 models on site running a hydraulic breaker which was deployed to break up any larger lumps of concrete ahead of the LiuGong which was busy loading debris away on wagons. dsc_3487 I don’t get out on many demolition jobs as it’s a sector I personally have not had much involvement in but it was interesting to watch the kit in action on this high profile inner city site!
