Digger’s Bauma Highlights (Part One) Liebherr Booth

Of most interest to me was the new Generation 8 range of Liebherr hydraulic excavators and the company had a number of examples from the 7-model range of machines which are built in its world-famous manufacturing facility in Colmar, France. These all new excavators feature a whole host of design features, including more power, greater productivity, improved operator comfort and increased safety features, which will appeal to owners, maintenance engineers and operators across the board, this example is the stunning looking R 930 model. Liebherr presented its new L 580 XPower wheeled loader which was fitted with an extensive package of assistance features, including the new active rear-view human detection system, front area monitoring and as if that isn’t enough, the SkyView system, a 360-degree monitoring solution. The L 580 XPower features joystick steering, a built-in tyre pressure monitors and Liebherr’s own weight load system Truck Payload Assist. Liebherr also showcased its latest addition to its Generation 6 wheeled excavator line up the all new A 913 Compact Litronic. The new model tips the scales at 13,600kgs to 15,300kgs depending on specification and is powered by a Stage 5 emissions compliant engine offering a power output rating of 95kw (129hp). A very nice-looking machine and a great size which is sure to appeal to the Liebherr faithful. There was no giant dumptruck on the stand this year, but the show stopper on the Liebherr booth had to be the R 200E an electric drive version of the same machine which was displayed during the 2016 edition of Bauma. The 210-tonne excavator in face shovel configuration, has a rated power output of 850kw (1,675hp) and is extremely environmentally friendly. Fitted with a 12.5m3 (16.4y3) bucket this 200-tonne class mining shovel is capable of loading 65 tonne mining trucks in just 3 passes. We first caught sight of the new 100 tonne class T 236 dumptruck during a visit to the enormous Erzberg iron ore mining pit in Austria during 2017, where Liebherr showed us a field follow model which was being trialled. Tipping the scales at 180 tonnes, the truck which driven by diesel-electric motors has a power output of 1,200hp and has proven to be a very cost-effective machine on the job. At Bauma Liebherr showcased a production model of the T 236 for visitors to see. The giant Liebherr LH 110 C Gantry material handler made a dominating stand at the front of the booth. With an operating weight of 122,000kgs to 140,000kgs depending on specification the machine is powered by a 300kw engine and features a maximum reach of 27m. Having played a starring role at the front of the stand during the 2016 Bauma show, Liebherr's massive hydrostatic drive PR 776 dozer was relegated to the back area on this occasion, but was attracting plenty of attention through the adjacent walkway. Check out my walkaround video of Liebherr’s new A 913 Compact wheeled excavator on the stand at Bauma.
