Diggers Day Out at the Devon County Show

Of course, being passionate about plant and machinery I never switch off entirely, so I took the opportunity to take a quick tour around some of the assembled machinery dealers stands. I think its fair to say that we don't tend to see as much New Holland construction kit around these days as we used to, but South West NH dealers Buglers displayed a wide variety of agricultural equipment and a few examples from the construction range including the W80C compact wheeled loader. Also represented was the mini excavator range with this E26C a 2.5 tonne class machine which is basically a badged Hyundai product. Kubota dealer Vincent Tractors & Plant displayed examples from its portfolio of products, most notably Kubota tractors and of interest to us mini excavators like this fully cabbed KX19-4. Vincent’s have recently taken on the dealership for Ausa dumpers and telehandlers in the South West and at the show they presented the smallest of the Spanish manufacturer’s three model range of ultra-compact telehandlers the Taurulift T144H Plus. Capable of lifting loads of up to 1,350 Kg (3,000 lbs) and with a total lifting height of 4 metres (13 feet), thanks to its small size and a weight of only 2,400 Kg (5,300 lbs), it is the only telehandler in its class that can be placed on a traditional trailer, making it easier to transport and reducing operating The new dealer for KATO IMER products in the South West is MST (Medland Sanders & Twose) who had a good selection of the Japanese/Italian products on display including the Carry 150 compact tracked dumper, a Kubota powered dumper with power swivel skip capable of carrying a loads up to 1500kgs. Former Hanix dealer MachineServe has now become the main dealer for Yanmar in Devon and Cornwall and had two examples of the Japanese designed, French built mini excavators on display including the popular 2.5 tonne class SV26. Also on show was the 1.8 tonne class SV18 mini excavator which features an expandable undercarriage. Other products from the company’s portfolio included Arrowhead breakers, Dieci telehandlers, Ghedini flail mowers and dumpers from NC Engineering and Lumag to name a few. Finnish multi-tool carrying compact loader manufacturer Avant were represented by local South West dealer Paddock Equipment who had a good selection of the distinctive green machines on display. There was no sign of the new 800 Series Avant’s largest machine to date that we saw at the launch in Finland earlier this year, but there was a this very nice 635 Opti-Drive model ready to go to its new owners Chipper Hire SW after the show. Finally, in this round up Kubota dealership Chepstow Machinery Sales had a nice example of the latest U36-4 zero tailswing 3.5 tonne class mini excavator which was fitted with hydraulic tilt bucket set-up. This machine has been purchased by RJ Brooks & Son from Crediton in North Devon. CBL Plant Sales also had a presence at the Devon County Show displaying Thwaites and Takeuchi products as you will see in the following video. The next show in these parts is the big one, the Royal Cornwall Show and we will be going along to capture a piece of the action, in the meantime checkout our walk-around from the Devon event.
