Digger’s weekly social media round up #18

We all know there is a massive skills shortage especially in the plant operator sector, so it was refreshing to see Mark Jarman’s post earlier this week featuring footage of his daughter Hannah Jarman at the controls of a Hitachi ZX350 during her first day on site having just completed a course at the Construction Industry Training Boards facility at Bircham Newton. This prompted a good healthy debate on the topic. If you missed it check it out here. img_1526 Andrew Allison took to the Digger Man Blogs Facebook page to announce the delivery of his new mount, a shiny new Hitachi ZX130LC-6 which he is operating for Luton based FBCS (Flatbase Construction Services). Take a look at the new machine and join the chat by clicking on this link. 14915218_1236999993039935_2534780074685103353_n For those who still bother with this kind of thing, its bonfire night tomorrow night, when the country celebrates the capture of a latter day terrorist who was trying to burn down the House of Parliament, there are some who say it’s a shame he didn’t succeed and in the light of recent events they may have a point! But any way Matthew Kitching posted a photo this week of his firm D & S Kitching building the biggest bonfire in Leeds ready for this weekend’s pyrotechnic feast, check it out here, I think you will agree it’s an impressive structure! 14938231_10154144217429576_8371909221483394892_n-1 Mecalac owner/operator Graham Sandercock is on a mission to find his uncles old MF 860 backhoe loader which he used to be allowed to operate , Graham reckons he loved that machine which once had the registration number of L129 WRL. Rumour has it the machine was shipped overseas after it was sold, does anyone know where it is I wonder? Check out the thread by clicking on this link. 14639718_750930691728016_869596367986624157_n More new kit arrivals posted on the Digger Man Blog Facebook page this week included Mark Oakleys photos of the stunning looking Volvo EC750E which has been purchased by Collins Earthworks. No doubt this machine will be making an appearance in Earthmovers Magazine soon. Check the photos out here.  14925434_10202302077390144_6949797880970136701_n Heated discussion of the week and difference of opinion award goes to my old mate Graham Centini who like many of us has had enough of the health and safety excesses on sites these days. There is definitely a different mind-set developing on sites these days from what I’m seeing, but what do you think? Head over and join the debate here. dsc_0119 Have a great weekend and we will see you all back on the Digger Man Blog next week.
