Digger’s weekly social media round up #22

Since this blogs inception back in 2008 when it was first hosted on Contract Journal’s website, we have attracted a worldwide audience. The blogs successful formula which features a wide variety of plant & machinery topics has been copied by many over the years, but we continue to go from strength to strength with impressive figures for our global reach. One of our overseas readers Justas Etminas who lives in Norway, where he operates a very tidy looking Cat 314C LCR excavator posted on our Facebook group wall this week asking for operators from Norway and Sweden to share photos and advice on machinery topics with him, I think some readers may have missed this hence I figured I would highlight it here so we can get Justas engaged with other blog readers. Check out the thread and join the discussion here.   15235822_1161929110508985_791822250457904395_o Chris Maginnis has certainly been inspired by the topic of old Hymac’s recently and this week he posted another one of his videos featuring a friend of his called Alex Smyth at the controls of a classic 580C model. According to Chris Alex is not an experienced operator and as such the Hymac’s complicated control set up is proving a bit tricky in the early days of his ownership of the machine, but like all things it will come with time. Why not check out the video and join the discussion here.  img_1834 Of all the places I have visited around the world, Sweden is one of my real favourites, a beautiful country with lovely friendly people and apart from anything else a country who are at the cutting edge of hydraulic attachments and working techniques. It’s also very much in my mind at the moment too as a close friend has recently gone out there to work. I was delighted then to see Jimmy Hansson’s stunning and artistic photo of his Doosan DX140W c/w Rototilt tilt-rotator which he posted on the Digger Man Blog earlier this week. If you missed this one check it out here. 15304090_1334167383314559_7310108273722765958_o Clearly inspired by the much discussed topic on the Digger Man Blog that is tilt-rotators, Ethan Anderson from New Zealand is set to become the first customer to receive Rototilt’s new R3 model in the country.  Ethan posed the question “You tilt-rotator fellas better be right about these things” which prompted a flurry of replies from “tilty” fans and end users from around the globe! Check out the thread here. 15219407_10157761621465573_4291675599074581736_n James Hulk Covell posted a series of photos of his stunning new JCB machines this week and posed the question “what do you guys use to clean your machines”. The post received over 80 answers which in all honesty were pretty varied to say the least. Check out the thread here.   15241183_10154834344262112_2579035104158685143_n “Who remembers these magazines” asked Graham Knighton as he posted a photo of some classic issues of the now long gone PMJ (Plant Managers Journal) magazine which as a trade mag was once essential reading for anyone in the plant and machinery industry. Do you have any copies of the magazine in the attic or stuffed in a drawer unseen for years? If so why not get them scanned in and posted in this thread, I for one would love to see them. 15235512_10154339228847880_8374744832091441213_o Finally this week toilet humour graced the pages of the Digger Man Blog Facebook page with a photo of an unusual portable toilet I spotted while out on my travels earlier this week. The wooden self-build loo even feature’s its own spinning stop and go board which warns approaching groundworkers when the little boys room is busy! It just cracked me up in so many ways I just had to capture it on my mobile. If you have not seen it, check it out here.   15241789_1818030001787167_1505415498392247375_n That's our highlight round up for another week, thanks to everyone who has posted for your continued support for the Digger Man Blog on its social media platforms.
