Digger’s weekly social media round up #26

Digger Man Blog stalwart, life long plant man and plant business owner Lionel Whitnell posed a question which prompted a great and interesting discussion with fellow readers. Lionel asked why more end users don’t fit Cat tracks onto other manufacturer’s machines when it is time to replace them. See what was said by checking out the post here.  lw1 Having teased us earlier in the week with a photo of his Case CX250D excavator looking as if it was going to catch an aeroplane in it bucket, Matthew Lee Wright came up trumps with this stunning shot of an Airbus A380 coming into land at Manchester airport and dwarfing his 25 tonne excavator in the process. If you missed it why not check out the thread here. 16298669_1456761821023243_8210562925177262936_n Dave “The Digger” Dog made a welcome return to the pages of the Digger Man Blog Facebook group this week when his owner Bryn Jones posted the latest shots of the young pup getting accustomed to their new machine, a JCB 8052 mini excavator, check out on how Dave is coming along by visiting the post here. 16387019_1807830776134897_6643563751824127564_n It would appear that a second Mecalac machine is heading for Cornwall this time a wheeled variant as Steve O’ Hagan has decided to try something different compared to his outgoing Terex duck. If you missed it check out the thread here. 16386871_10206753623559743_7237111738840754035_n Digger Man Blog reader Hunter Main is clearly enjoying his time on a brand new Takeuchi TB2150 hydraulic excavator and has been very complimentary about the machines ability and smoothness of operation. To be honest this comes as no surprise to me as the machine is a class act. Look out for my “First Drive” report in a future edition of Earthmovers Magazine. In the meantime check out Hunter’s post here. 16427488_10209695170070977_1955198728552846108_n On a dull wet day here in the UK how about a bit of glorious Australian sunshine with one of a series of blue sky equipment photos sent in by Mark Gough of Wamuran, in Queensland. The photos depict a Caterpillar 320L Long Reach machine which is still busy earning money and proving that Cat kit is well proven in the longevity stakes! Check out the post here. 16508008_10155190781748814_614306800569979313_n And finally in this weeks highlight round up Andrew Day brought up the subject of companies removing radios from machine cabs, I have to say this is another worrying development in the continual down treading of operators and their basic human rights, by men in suits who would have no idea of what its like to sit in a machine for 12 hours a day with nothing to listen to. I really cannot believe that this is happening in the industry, but apparently it is and you can find out more about it by reading this post.  dsc_0792 Have a great weekend and we will see you all back on the Digger Man Blog next week.
