Don picks up a new ride

Don, who has vast experience in the earthmoving sector, has joined the multi-faceted company Georgiou Group as a motor scraper operator and has taken over the ride on one of the firms two Caterpillar 639D twin engine elevating scrapers. The company, which today employs over 800 people was formed in 1977 with just nine employees and runs a considerable sized fleet of equipment which is largely dominated by Caterpillar kit. Don tells us that they also run 6 x Cat 657’s and 2 x Cat 637 models in addition to the relatively rare Cat 639D machines. Don is currently working on a massive development for new shops in Cockburn, which is just south of Perth. Don describes the area as “Filthy swamp country which is very hard going on the buggies” (buggies being a local slang term for the scrapers) Working across four states in Australia, Georgiou delivers projects from inception to handover, in a range of disciplines and a variety of industries. Privately owned and operated, the company has an impressive list of clients, ranging from blue chip listed companies to government agencies and specialist businesses.
