Dressta’s Big Boy!

Dressta’s Big Boy!

Dressta machines are manufactured at its facility in Stalowa Wola, Poland, which stands on the same ground as its former parent company HSW, a business that for 30 years was focused on the production of military equipment.

In 1972 the company entered into a licencing agreement with International Harvester, which resulted in Dressta dozers, side booms and crawler loaders being sold with the IH trademark via IH dealerships.

1979 saw the company produce its first TD-40 dozer which at the time was powered by a 450hp diesel engine, in a joint effort between Polish and American design engineers. Leaping forward now and in 2011 Dressta was acquired by ambitious Chinese manufacturer Guangxi LiuGong Machinery.

As far as I know we are yet to see one of Dressta’s TD-40 dozer at work in the UK, but I have seen them at the Bauma trade shows on numerous occasions and they certainly have some presence on the stand. Tipping the scales at 67.7 tonnes, power on the latest TD-40E Extra model comes from a Cummins/QSK 19/T3 engine, which offers a power output rating of 528hp (394kw) @2000rpm, with a blade capacity range of 18.6 - 39.8 m3 depending on specification.

I’ve not found many videos of one in operation but did come across this clip of one at work in Siberia in Russia.
