Earthmovers in Scotland goes to print

David was given a tour of the printing process - both traditional methods and their award winning digital inkjet printing at CPI Antony Rowe two printing facilities in Wiltshire. book-cover-804x1024 The process starts by loading 0.5 tonne of high quality paper on to the long inkjet printer line and the skilled operators then setup and adjust the machine up to match the type of paper being used . There are two massive inkjet printer head units , formed in an arch shape, that look like something out of space craft engine room, these are designed to print one side of his book - through one of the head units -  before being dried and cooled , as it enters the next head unit to have the other side printed in the space of a few seconds later. Throughout  the process, the high-speed printing is being quality checked, both by CPI’s experienced team of printers and electronically scanned to ensure the highest quality. a00a1585 At the end of this process the single sheet of printed paper is cut, and the individual book pages collated into a book block, this is then bound into a high gloss hardback cover - made by CPI’s other nearby printers - and quality checked again before being sent for dispatch to customers just in time for Christmas. a00a1604-3 David has put together this short video of his visit to CPI Antony Rowe to share this experience with readers.
David said “ It was my dream to be able to see my first book being printed, and I was very impressed by both the latest digital colour inkjet technology being used to print my book, and by the sheer attention to detail shown by all the skilled staff at CPI Antony Rowe printing team.  I will always remember this experience.”
