Gartell & Son transition to Trimble

Civil engineering and groundworks contractor Gartell & Son has completed the installation of Trimble Earthworks machine control across its entire fleet.

The technology has now been fitted to all 11 of the company’s machines, with the contractor using the systems across ground engineering, earthworks, civil engineering, agricultural and industrial construction projects in the South West. Supplied and installed by SITECH UK & Ireland, Trimble Earthworks provides operators with real-time information on elevation, bucket or blade depth, slope, alignment and earthmoving productivity. Trimble claims the system can deliver up to a 40% increase in overall site productivity.

Harry Redstone, engineering manager at Gartell & Son, said: “Through SITECH, we utilise a range of Trimble technology, including Trimble Earthworks machine control systems which are designed to improve precision and productivity across all types of projects, making the technology ideal for our work across ground engineering, earthworks, civil engineering, and agricultural and industrial construction. Alongside the installation of the systems, SITECH provides Gartell & Son with operator guidance and training, as well as ongoing technical support and maintenance. Trimble Earthworks can be integrated with Trimble WorksManager and Trimble WorksOS for data management and progress tracking between the site and office. The platform uses Android-based software with functionality tailored to different machine types, including tiltrotator support for excavators and blade guidance options for dozers.
