India still big on backhoes

Apparently backhoe loader sales in India in 2017 reached the 27,000 mark following a period of flat growth back in 2015. Quite how they predict these things I have no idea, but this growth is expected to rise again and hit the 28,000 milestone in the Indian market during 2020 according to industry sources. One company who will be looking to take a share of that market will be Tata-Hitachi the joint venture between Tata Steel and Hitachi Construction Machinery. They recently launched two new Max Series models the TH 76 and TH 86 with the numbers referring to the machines engine horsepower. The 4 cylinder engines are Tata's own in house products, and the machines feature a well-proven powershift transmission from ZF. Thanks to the nature of the Indian market the machines are a bit more basic when compared to the specification found on European machines, often supplied with no 4in1 front bucket and no extending dipper but it’s always interesting to take a look at these different machines that we don’t see in the UK market. Check out this promotional video from Tata-Hitachi.
