It’s a Cat double act for the MJL Group

The MJL Group are one of the fastest expanding groundwork’s and civil engineering companies in the South West. The business currently runs a varied fleet of machines, but is dominated by a well- known orange excavator brand from Korea. Earlier this year, Managing Director Matthew Lugg, decided to purchase his first Caterpillar machine from the newly appointed Cat Compact Dealer, WH Bond. In a vote of confidence on the quality of the machines, Mr Lugg has returned for a second 308E, which is an additional machine joining the fleet. This new machine was delivered to the Barratt homes site in Looe, Cornwall, where I was operating machines last year. The 308E has been entrusted to local operator Nigel Puckey, who is famous on site for his humorous Cornish saying “Bleedy Lash Up”! Nigel has many years’ experience on plant & machinery, including a long spell working for Minerva Construction. Nigel was previously operating a Case CX80 machine, which has since been allocated to another operator on a site further down in Cornwall. While waiting for the new machine to arrive, Nigel has been operating a demo model, which was on loan from WH Bond, until their machine arrived. Nigel said he was delighted with the machine, but said it could do with a bit more lifting power. This has been a common question amongst end users, which has now been dealt with on all new machines being delivered to customers. Pressures have been stepped up to increase the machines lifting capacity appropriately. Speaking about the latest deal with WH Bond, Matthew Lugg said, “We have returned to Bond’s for a second machine, because we have been delighted with the level of service we have received so far. With workload expected to rise significantly over the coming year, I feel confident we will be doing more business in the future”.
