Its a Volvo A25F double-act for P Flannery

“We hire our equipment to major civil engineering consortiums and large contractors nationwide so it’s imperative the products we purchase are productive and reliable,” comments joint Director Martin Flannery. “The six Volvo A25s we originally purchased with low hours on them have proved their worth time and time again in terms of reliability, performance and most importantly client acceptance so as we needed to add to the fleet it made perfect sense to opt for the latest trucks from Volvo,” he continues. The A25F hauler from Volvo meets the requirements of Stage IIIB emissions legislation being powered by an electronically controlled, six cylinder 235hp turbo charged Volvo V-ACT diesel engine. This features high torque at low engine speeds, resulting in good fuel efficiency, high performance, quicker engine response and less wear, i.e. long service life. Purpose built by Volvo, the engine is designed to exactly match the Volvo drive train, ensuring the best use of power and torque, even in tough working conditions. It is matched to a torque converter with built in lock-up function and fitted with a fully automatic fast adaptive transmission. The rest of the Volvo designed and built powertrain has been reinforced to cope with the higher torque output of the engine. The A25F is not only more environmentally friendly, it is also more fuel efficient than the previous D & E-Series machines – by up to 4%. This is a remarkable achievement given that the E-Series was the class leader when it came to low fuel consumption. With a carrying capacity of 24 tonnes and heaped capacity of 15m³ the Volvo A25F has a maximum speed of 53kph. The trucks supplied to P Flannery Plant Hire (Oval) Ltd have the optional cantilever tailgates fitted for maximum load retention. They are also fitted with CareTrack as standard, which is Volvo’s telematics system that enables remote monitoring of a wide range of machine functions (e.g. location, fuel consumption, service reminders etc.) thus optimizing customer operations. This will prove beneficial since both the two new arrivals have been deployed on a long term major railway rejuvenation project taking place in the Borders region of Scotland joining approximately 100 items of other general heavy plant supplied by the company. P Flannery Plant Hire (Oval) Ltd is a family run business which was incorporated by Patrick Flannery the founder and current Managing Director back in 1972. With his two sons, Patrick and Martin, Mr Flannery celebrates 41 years in business, his company becoming one of the leading plant hire specialists providing nationwide coverage. The company’s headquarters is located at Wembley North London with depots based in Hampshire and Cheshire. The company is committed to safety for its employees and the machines and equipment it operates and has a robust and comprehensive in-house training facility covering all relevant areas of the business.
